Life and Career
Signicha (Rudygar O. Simpson) was born on the 6th of April 1980 at the Spanish town hospital St. Catherine Jamaica. He grew up in the hills of Clarendon. His mother was his first teacher in school and his father was a carpenter. In school he was known for his excellent soccer abilities which lead him to be captain of his school team.
While attending high school in Jamaica he migrated to the United states with his mother and younger sister. He first resided in Detroit and then to New York. In 2004 he lost his sister in a fatal car accident which then lead him on a soul searching expedition.
He found comfort in listening to the music of great artists such as Bob Marley Jimmy cliff, Dennis Brown, Garnett Silk, Sizzla, Capleton, Anthony B, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man and Buju Banton. This lead him to the point if creating his own music and performing them for his friends.
Music was put on hold due to another family tragedy. He lost his father in 2011.
Although at the time he was working as a carpenter, this lead him to begin to pursue a career as an artist!
He has performed at local venues in and around New York & New Jersey and is looking forward to performing in venues nation wide and international.
